view from a train

We're being held here to regulate the service.

A captive audience,
I soaked in the silent stories
framed beyond the glass—

a snap shot of slow life
at apparent ease with itself.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Where am I?

One of four poems written by Steve Page in response to paintings at the BEAT (Borough of Ealing Art Trail) exhibit at St John's Church, West Ealing in September 2017.

The painting is entitled Street view from a train, by the artist and Debra Collis. Poem Steve Page: for permission to re-use contact stevejeff62@gmail.com.
